Sandbox Home exists to support customers at all stages as they build functional fitness spaces and routines in their home.
We connect consumers with products curated and tested by our own trainers. Whether it’s quality items to start (or complete) your current home gym, or working virtually with Sandbox trainers, you’re covered.
In 2013, Sandbox Fitness & Therapy was born: a boutique fitness studio located in the heart of Downtown Oakville. Our goal? Connecting our clients with fitness, nutrition and therapy solutions to help them meet their goals.
Fast forward to March 2020, Ontario enters its first lockdown. Now, we scrambled to create solutions so our members could remain active at home. For free, we took every piece of equipment (that we could transport) and dropped them off at our clients’ houses all over the city.

We spent months developing and testing an app, filming hundreds of videos and created a virtual training product clients love. Additionally, we discovered technologies that expanded upon what we could do in the studio. Now we service clients all over the world using these tools, regardless of their access to equipment. Our clients take us with them on vacation or to the dock. Ultimately, we have clients doing 20% more exercise per year as a result of this service.
Our biggest road block?
The biggest challenge we’ve grown into with our virtual clients is access to equipment at a reasonable price. Therefore, later in 2020, we decided to do an overseas order for 20,000lbs of Dumbbells. This is where Sandbox Home Gym was born. We’re now able to provide all of our clients with Dumbbells to expand their home routines without disrupting the equipment in the studio. This became important as lockdowns became frequent and unexpected.
So what now?
Now we’re able to connect our customers with a much larger array of equipment that’s been curated and tested by our trainers in our studio and beyond. We can officially create custom gym builds while integrating virtual solutions to keep new customers’ exercise routines safe and efficient.
